MyGame, part of Sportway Media Group, has acquired the rights to the Norwegian elite floorball league for women and men, Eliteserien. The streaming company will also broadcast both women’s and men’s national team matches.
MyGame takes over the rights from TV 2, which will still broadcast selected matches on linear TV.
Secretary General of the Norwegian Bandy and Floorball Federation, Tomas Jonsson, is pleased that MyGame will deliver the elite matches in floorball in the coming years.
”We think it’s fantastic that there’s now a focus on sports that traditionally haven’t received much TV exposure. New technology enables production on a larger scale, and the collaboration means we can showcase our leagues to a broader audience than before. We are very happy that MyGame will contribute to greater profiling of Norwegian floorball,” says Jonsson.
”We have good experience in broadcasting grassroots matches from floorball leagues. And it’s very gratifying that we can now also contribute to building the sport through elite levels in Norway and the Nordic region,” says Lars Setsaa, CEO and Editor-in-Chief of MyGame Norway.
Norwegian elite and grassroots floorball consists of approximately 300 clubs and more than 1700 teams, spread across about 290 indoor arenas in Norway. There are around 10,000 matches being played in a season, and the federation has approximately 23,500 registered members.
Eliteserien constitutes the top floorball league for women and men and is currently structured with regular leagues where approximately 250 matches are played.
”There are significant changes happening in the way sports are produced, and with fixed cameras and intelligent camera tracking technology, it has become much easier to produce content on a large scale. This enables more sports to receive broader media coverage, especially on the women’s side, which has often been deprioritized by rights holders,” says Lars Setsaa, CEO and Editor-in-Chief of MyGame Norway.
”We are very excited about the collaboration we now have with the floorball association,” he adds.
